I love photography. It’s been a passion of mine for a long time, even before I realized that I loved it so much. Growing up, my brother and I always had a camera in our face. My dad loved to take pictures too and I’m lucky to have so many of my family showing all the important events, family gatherings, and all the embarrassing moments forever captured on Kodachrome (which by the way, I grew up listening to this Simon and Garfunkel song).

Skip to many years later, I’m newly married and lucky to have lived and traveled overseas. A few years later, we are a young family with two little girls. A few years from then, we move back to Germany. All this time, I am snapping away and have these pictures cataloged, labeled, dated, but they are mocking me. They are just sitting in boxes and envelopes. At one point I was totally immersed in scrapbooking and was successful in getting some of my pictures into albums. I was a stay at home mom and this was something that I had time for then, but somewhere along the way, I just forgot about the pictures, or maybe I should say I tried to forget about the boxes and boxes and envelopes full of pictures that never made it into the albums.

Last week I had to buy a new printer and we got one that does a little of everything. The scanning feature works really well and I’ve decided to finally get those pictures digitized and printed into a scrapbook. It may not be fancy, but I will have at least something tangible for my daughters and family to look at!

These following images were taken with a Minolta Maxxum 300si, a gift from my husband right before the birth of our first child. I loved this camera!

Sydney, 2 yrs. old, 1998. Waiting on daddy, Ft. Campbell.

Erin, almost 3 yrs old, 2001. Ansbach, Germany having ice cream.

Alicia & Raleigh Engagement

Alicia & Raleigh Engagement

I met Alicia and Raleigh in 1982 when my family moved from Lawrenceburg to Murfreesboro. They, however, went through elementary school, middle school, and high school together. It wasn’t until a few years ago that they reconnected and now they are getting married!! They are so fun and are so right for each other! I [...]

All Kinds of Critters

While waiting for my daughter to get finished with her volunteering duties at the Discovery Center, I decided to take advantage of the time, grabbed my camera and saw some truly cool things today. There is this one bird that I love shooting. It just sits there and doesn’t seem to startle very easily. I [...]

Testing, Testing, 1,2,3….

Met up at the Discovery Center with Donna for some test shots with the new camera. I’ve just about wore and bored everyone out debating, researching, and getting opinions on a new camera. After much deliberation and convincing of the husband, I found myself in possession of the Canon 7D. Now this camera rocks my [...]

Chihuly Nights (and Days)

Cheekwood Botanical Gardens is hosting a beautiful glass display featuring the work of Dale Chihuly until October 2010. This has been in the works for years and was no easy thing to accomplish. Several photog friends and myself went to Chihuly nights and it was so beautiful to see at night all lit up.

Sorry for the Mess

I’m trying to decide what to do with my blog and in the meantime it’s a little bare bones. I think I’ve found a look I like and I’m currently in the process of converting over to a new look. Hope to get it up and running soon! ~Rhonda

It’s Summer, It’s Hot, It’s My Dog Petey!!

It’s a pet theme week at I Heart Faces. This shot captures the very essence of our dog’s personality. He’s definitely a cool dog, as smart as they come, and in this picture was super hot from this excruciating heat we’ve been having in middle Tennessee. Check out the rest of the pet entries at [...]

Celebrating Teens at I Heart Faces

My family and I went to the beach a couple of weeks ago to visit with family. It was so great to see everyone! The kids are all growing up so fast, and it’s always so cool how the cousins, even though it’s been years since they have seen each other, pick up right where [...]
