I love photography. It’s been a passion of mine for a long time, even before I realized that I loved it so much. Growing up, my brother and I always had a camera in our face. My dad loved to take pictures too and I’m lucky to have so many of my family showing all the important events, family gatherings, and all the embarrassing moments forever captured on Kodachrome (which by the way, I grew up listening to this Simon and Garfunkel song).
Skip to many years later, I’m newly married and lucky to have lived and traveled overseas. A few years later, we are a young family with two little girls. A few years from then, we move back to Germany. All this time, I am snapping away and have these pictures cataloged, labeled, dated, but they are mocking me. They are just sitting in boxes and envelopes. At one point I was totally immersed in scrapbooking and was successful in getting some of my pictures into albums. I was a stay at home mom and this was something that I had time for then, but somewhere along the way, I just forgot about the pictures, or maybe I should say I tried to forget about the boxes and boxes and envelopes full of pictures that never made it into the albums.
Last week I had to buy a new printer and we got one that does a little of everything. The scanning feature works really well and I’ve decided to finally get those pictures digitized and printed into a scrapbook. It may not be fancy, but I will have at least something tangible for my daughters and family to look at!
These following images were taken with a Minolta Maxxum 300si, a gift from my husband right before the birth of our first child. I loved this camera!

Sydney, 2 yrs. old, 1998. Waiting on daddy, Ft. Campbell.

Erin, almost 3 yrs old, 2001. Ansbach, Germany having ice cream.

These are great shots! Germany gave me lots to take pictures of too
I always love learning something new about my friends. Great post Rhonda and these pictures of your girls are just precious! I loved taking pictures back when the kids where smaller, but NO clue how to take a decent one. I regret not trying better back then.
love the title! read your comment…yeah i mean FB can be great for some people but i personally found that it detracted too much from my life. and i feel you on the whole unfriended thing. that i my biggest problem where the definition of friends varies so much between people so there is anyways this hurt and misunderstanding. love the blog and i will be sure to visit again.
A great reminder – I too have boxes and boxes of books I keep meaning to scan or scrapbook or do something with so they’re not just lost to time!
Oh my goodness. I LOVE these images. I loved this post. It evoked so many memories! And of course, it reminded me that I MUST do something with the boxes and boxes of pictures I have from my baby!
I love the images you produced with that camera your husband got you. So pretty!
